The Rockmart Yellowjackets pushed their score all the way to 69 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 86-69 fall against Model. It was the first time this season that Rockmart let down their fans at home.
Rockmart's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Treylin Davis, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Davis is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Samuel Johnson, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Rockmart's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-2. As for Model, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-7.
Rockmart won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cedartown at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Cedartown is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Model won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Unity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Unity Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Model likes a good challenge.
