Softball Recap: Beaufort Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Beaufort ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Woodland Wolverines. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 23, 2024.

Adalyn Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Smith, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caylin Adkins, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Beaufort was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Beaufort's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-3.

Coming up, Beaufort will challenge Bishop England at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Battling Bishops at the right time seeing as the Battling Bishops are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Woodland, they will face off against Andrews at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
