The Classical Saints just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Central Christian Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Classical managed to keep up with Inman until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Classical lost 59-35 to Inman. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Inman Teutons are ranked 24th).
Maggie Neill put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. She has become a key player for Classical: the team is 7-2 when she posts at least ten boards, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevi Wilkey, who posted six points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Central Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Reno County HomeSchool on Friday, taking the game 43-34.
Central Christian Academy's win came from a few key players Classical will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Corinne Rauch, who went 5 for 10 en route to 10 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals. Laila Hernandez was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points.
Classical dropped their record down to 8-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Central Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Classical has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Central Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Classical came up short against Central Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 44-39. Will Classical have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
