The Intermountain Christian Lions struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Rockwell Marshals had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The New Year welcomed Intermountain Christian with a 80-49 whooping from Rockwell. Intermountain Christian lost against Rockwell in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 68-52 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Intermountain Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Noah Hillaker. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 0 assists. Hillaker scored a full 55.1% of Intermountain Christian's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Cook, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Intermountain Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Luke Henderson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rockwell, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. The match was Henderson's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Roman Haueter, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Intermountain Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Rockwell, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams the next time they take the court. Intermountain Christian will host Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Rockwell will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
