Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cary Academy). They blew past the Carrboro Jaguars 98-63 on Saturday. With the Chargers ahead 46-26 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Cary Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Rousseau, who went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Rousseau is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Tweedy, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards.
Cary Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carrboro only racked up four assists.
Despite the loss, Carrboro still got an impressive performance from Bakari Watkins, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of DB Hamlett, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points.
Cary Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.3 points. As for Carrboro, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
