The Batavia Bulldogs waltzed into their match Thursday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They secured a 57-51 W over Fayetteville-Perry. Given Batavia's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Fayetteville-Perry is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Fayetteville-Perry still got an impressive performance from Ryley Kleemeyer, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Cara Rummel, who scored 11 points.
Batavia pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Fayetteville-Perry, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Batavia will head out on the road to face off against Clinton-Massie at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Clinton-Massie and Batavia are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Fayetteville-Perry, they will be playing at home against Whiteoak at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
