Softball Recap: East Valley Comes Up Short

East Valley dropped their record down to 6-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Northridge Academy Pumas, falling 22-2. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Northridge Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Northridge Academy, who have now won 14 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Northridge Academy's part, Alondra Laguna was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Laguna has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Northridge Academy let Jackie Nettles and Alana Kramer run wild. Nettles went a perfect 5-for-5 with six RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases, while Kramer got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave Nettles a new career-high. Jasmine Campa was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Coming up, East Valley will head out to face off against Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vipers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.09 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Northridge Academy, they will welcome Vaughn at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pumas are facing the White Tigers at the right time seeing as the White Tigers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
