On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cole Ranchel, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Winter Springs entered their tilt with Auburndale on Thursday with 12 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 13. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Bloodhounds. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ben Filler looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, Jackson Swann was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Xavier Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Winter Springs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive games.
Winter Springs pushed their record up to 25-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Wesley Chapel, their record now sits at 14-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wesley Chapel has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Winter Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts.
