It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the De Anza Dons had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Redhawks by a score of 65-57. The victory was a breath of fresh air for De Anza as it put an end to their ten-game losing streak.
De Anza found their leader in underclassman Ahmari Otis, who scored 31 points along with six rebounds. Otis has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Christopher Smith, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
De Anza's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-17. As for Vallejo, they dropped their record down to 7-19 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
De Anza will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Salesian College Preparatory at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Salesian College Preparatory knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 23 matchups -- so hopefully De Anza likes a good challenge. Vallejo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
