The Wiggins Tigers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Akron Rams at 1:30 p.m. on December 14th. Akron took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Wiggins, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, everything came up roses for Wiggins on the road against Dayspring Christian Academy as the squad secured a 52-23 victory.
Wiggins' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JR Meyer, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Kays, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Akron came up short against Stratton on Friday and fell 54-42.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Anderson Filla, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Caleb Poss was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Wiggins' victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2. As for Akron, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Thursday's match is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Wiggins have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Akron struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 31.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Wiggins didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Akron in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 50-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wiggins since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
