Baseball Recap: Agricultural Science Picks Up 14th Consecutive Victory

Agricultural Science waltzed into their game on Thursday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They put the hurt on the Kelly Trojans with a sharp 20-6 win. Considering the Cyclones have won 16 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Isaac Corral and Elias Fernandez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Corral tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Fernandez struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Corral posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At the plate, Corral got on base in two of his six plate appearances with three runs and two RBI, while Fernandez went 2-for-6 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Fernandez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Jarius Simmons -Watson was incredible, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. David Wilkinson was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Agricultural Science pushed their record up to 18-3-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Kelly, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Agricultural Science will welcome Air Force Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kelly, they will host Mansueto at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
