Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Somerset Academy Losee Lions, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centennial on Friday. Somerset Academy Losee's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Somerset Academy Losee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Kieran Daniel, who rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 75 receiving yards. Malachi Johnson also helped out as he racked up 200 rushing yards.
Centennial was led to victory by Dale Flores jr and Vic Plotnikov. Flores jr picked up 162 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Plotnikov threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per attempt. Flores jr's longest reception was for an incredible 81 yards. Jhbari Christmas made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Somerset Academy Losee's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Centennial, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Somerset Academy Losee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Centennial will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sunrise Mountain at 3:40 p.m. on November 21st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Sunrise Mountain is ranked 30th, while Centennial is ranked 24th).
