The West Essex Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss dating back to last season. They fell to Central 60-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Faith Fedd-Robinson had a dynamite game for Central, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 18 rebounds. Jahniyah Simpson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
West Essex's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-1. As for Central, their victory was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0.
West Essex will be home for the holidays to greet Nutley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central will take on Lake Minneola in a holiday battle at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Lake Minneola knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Central likes a good challenge.
