Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Beach to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aziyria Phillips, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and five assists. The game was Phillips' third in a row with at least ten points. Mariah Reid was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven steals.
When it comes to explaining why Memorial Day lost, one person who can't be blamed is McKenzie King. Despite the final result, she scored ten points.
Beach's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Memorial Day, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
Beach won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Savannah Christian at 4:00 p.m. on December 9th. Savannah Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 499th, while Beach is ranked 244th). As for Memorial Day, they will head out on the road to face off against Savannah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Savannah will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
