Trinidad has been on the road for three straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Dolores Huerta Prep Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Trinidad will be strutting in after a victory while Dolores Huerta Prep will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Trinidad has not done well against Sierra Grande recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Trinidad skirted past Sierra Grande 32-29. The victory was just what Trinidad needed coming off of a 60-29 loss in their prior match.
Monserrad Viera Flores and Danica Shipley were among the main playmakers for Trinidad as the former dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals and the latter scored 17 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Shipley scored 15 or more points.
Dolores Huerta Prep suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Simla on the road and fell 68-15. Dolores Huerta Prep has not had much luck with Simla recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Trinidad is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Dolores Huerta Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Trinidad didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Dolores Huerta Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 41-37 victory.
