It was a good run, but The Classical Academy Titans unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 53-44 to Fountain-Fort Carson. The Classical Academy has struggled against Fountain-Fort Carson recently, as their game on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, The Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Alaina Bonacquista, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Bonacquista is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Mairin Carpenter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Fountain-Fort Carson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keira Mitchell out in front who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Daniella Bosmans, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds.
The Classical Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Classical Academy and Falcon will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully The Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they will head out on the road to challenge Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pine Creek is coming into the contest with five straight wins at home, so Fountain-Fort Carson is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
