Basketball Game Preview: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Mount Tahoma T-Birds

The Mercer Island Islanders will venture away from home to take on the Mount Tahoma T-Birds at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Mercer Island is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63 points per game this season.

Mercer Island will head into Tuesday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 27-point drubbing they dealt Interlake on Tuesday. Mercer Island blew past Interlake 74-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Islanders have posted since January 29th.

It was another big night for William McDonald, who went 10 for 19 on his way to 24 points in addition to six steals and five boards. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Mcdonald, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 13 points.

Mercer Island was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Interlake only posted nine assists.

Meanwhile, Mount Tahoma came up short against Bellarmine Prep on Saturday and fell 61-50. The T-Birds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mercer Island's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Mount Tahoma, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Mercer Island came up short against Mount Tahoma in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 66-62. Can Mercer Island avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
