Langham Creek has gone a perfect 10-0 against Cypress Springs recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lobos will venture away from home to challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Langham Creek has nine straight victories, Cypress Springs has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Langham Creek's win against Cypress Woods wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lobos narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lobos have posted since February 29, 2024.
Karli Challburg made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Mia Martinez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Izabella Amato-Ramirez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cypress Springs' offense. They came up short against Bridgeland on Tuesday, falling 16-0.
Langham Creek's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Cypress Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10-1.
Cypress Springs' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Langham Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. It's a different story for Cypress Springs, though, as they've only averaged .329. Will they be able to contain Langham Creek's hitters?
Langham Creek took their victory against Cypress Springs in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 16-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lobos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
