Even though the West Central Trojans have not done well against the Knox Redskins recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. West Central managed a 57-51 victory over Knox. The win made it back-to-back wins for West Central.
West Central had a senior duo take command as Mara Sharpe scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds and Annika Smith dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sharpe scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Mellon, who scored six points.
West Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Knox, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
West Central will head out on the road to face off against North Judson-San Pierre at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Judson-San Pierre is on a five-game streak of home wins, West Central a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Knox will be home for the holidays to greet Griffith at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
