Even though the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, the Lexington Minutemen still came out on top. Lexington took down Wellington-Napoleon 73-58. Given Lexington's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Wellington-Napoleon is ranked 469th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Wellington-Napoleon still got an impressive performance from Trotter Hughes, who scored 26 points. The matchup was Hughes' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Haden Terrill was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Lexington's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Lexington will head out on the road to face off against Forsyth at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Forsyth will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Wellington-Napoleon will be home for the holidays to greet Plattsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plattsburg has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 335 points over their last five games.
