Baseball Recap: Dunmore Wins Going Away Against Lakeland

Dunmore won the last time they faced Lakeland and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bucks put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 17-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mason Stets was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Forgione, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-6. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jimmy Clark also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Dunmore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Dunmore's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunmore will face off against Riverside at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bucks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakeland, they will square off against Mid Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Chiefs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
