Even though the Hernando Leopards scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, the Weeki Wachee Hornets still came out on top. Weeki Wachee snuck past the Leopards with a 65-61 victory. That's two games straight that Weeki Wachee has won by exactly four points.
Weeki Wachee had a senior duo take command as Isaac Priester dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds and Jean Garcia scored 19 points along with six steals. Garcia hasn't dropped below 19 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Matthew Hazivasilis, who scored six points.
Hernando lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jesse Stewart, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Jackson, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Weeki Wachee's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14. As for Hernando, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.
Weeki Wachee will be playing at home against the Panthers at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lecanto is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Hernando, they will square off against the Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Crystal River is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
