Basketball Recap: Rockledge Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Rockledge unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a blow against the Osceola Kowboys, falling 82-49. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Kowboys are ranked 15th).

Rockledge lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brady Kearns, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Oakley, who posted nine points.

Rockledge's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Osceola, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Rockledge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-44 loss against Melbourne on the 16th. Osceola will take on Altamonte Christian in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Osceola knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Altamonte Christian likes a good challenge.
