Portal's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Thomas, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Brian McQueen, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Portal's victory was their 22nd straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Screven County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Portal and Montgomery County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Montgomery County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 440th, while Portal is ranked 36th). As for Screven County, they will head out on the road to challenge Emanuel County Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
