The Coronado Cougars's game last Monday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They skirted past Arbor View 56-54. That's another feather in the cap for Coronado, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coronado to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savannah Lopez, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Lopez scored 15 or more points. Gabrielle Brooks was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Arbor View saw an underclassman step up: Sanai Branch almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 40.7% of Arbor View's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Annesia Jackson, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Arbor View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Arbor View, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.
Coronado does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Arbor View also has no future games currently scheduled.
