Caden Nolan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Evan Hodges was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jabari Douglas, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Lee County waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Vikings 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Yellow Jackets have posted against the Vikings since March 7, 2023.
The result came thanks to Gavin Swann's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lee County is 7-3 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-9 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Drew Stanfield and Landon Miles did most of the damage at the plate: Stanfield went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Miles went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Lee County is undefeated when Stanfield posts three or more RBI, but 10-12 otherwise.
Lee County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Lee County now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Richmond, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
Everything went Richmond's way against Lee County when the teams last played on April 4th, as Richmond made off with a 12-2 victory. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellow Jackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
