The Cass Colonels were the 26-21 winner over the Hiram Hornets when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Cass took a serious blow against Hiram on Friday, falling 50-20. Cass' defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Kendarious Brown went supernova for Hiram, rushing for 135 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Brown's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Da'Shaun Williams also helped out as he racked up 113 rushing yards.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Hiram, adding 14 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Oliver Castaneda: he added nine points with three field goals, and another five kicking extra points.
Cass' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.7 points per game. As for Hiram, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Cass will be playing at home against Calhoun at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hiram, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodland is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
