The Banning Broncos scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Desert Mirage 87-17 at home. That looming 87-17 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Banning yet this season.
Banning's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Aguilar, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Aguilar is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Moua, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Desert Mirage lost, one person who can't be blamed is Luis Jimenez. Despite the final result, he scored two points along with five rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Desert Mirage struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Banning posted 11 assists.
Banning pushed their record up to 7-13 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Desert Mirage, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Coincidentally, Banning and Desert Mirage will both be playing Desert Hot Springs the next time they take the court. Banning will head out to face Desert Hot Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Desert Mirage will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
