The Solebury Spartans will be home for the holidays to greet the Life Center Academy Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Solebury has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 32 points or more this season. They breezed by Mastery at home to the tune of 65-22. That 65-22 margin sets a new team best for Solebury this season.
Tyler Simpson was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joell Idrovo, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Life Center Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They secured a 74-70 W over Varsity Opponent.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Life Center Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mekhi Robertson, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Robertson's third in a row with at least ten points. Elijah Brown was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds.
Solebury now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Life Center Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Thursday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Solebury have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 22.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Life Center Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 37 rebounds per game. Given Solebury's sizeable advantage in that area, Life Center Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Solebury came up short against Life Center Academy in their previous meeting back in February, falling 79-66. Thankfully for Solebury, Reggie Dillard (who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
