Friday just wasn't the day for Montrose's offense. They lost 14-0 to Palisade on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 16, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glenwood Springs). They were the clear victors by a 26-8 margin over Montbello on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jamison Godfread was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Godfread was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Glenwood Springs got a massive performance out of Evan Neuman, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Neuman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grady Aguirre, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Glenwood Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Montrose's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Glenwood Springs, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Montrose has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Glenwood Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
