Herndon hasn't had much luck against Langley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Herndon will take on Langley at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
If Herndon beats Langley with 13 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Herndon blew past Chantilly 13-3 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.
Katie Holt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Holt was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie McGee, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Anna Korsvall, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Langley is still undefeated this season after their contest against Riverside on Wednesday, but Riverside came as close as anyone has to beating them. Langley never let Riverside get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.
Like Herndon, Langley also got a great game from a two-way player: Norah Jacques. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Jacques has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.
Jacques wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Fatovic, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Herndon's record is now 2-0. As for Langley, their record is now 4-0.
Herndon couldn't quite get it done against Langley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can Herndon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
