The Monte Vista Pirates will face off against the Trinidad Miners at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monte Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
Monte Vista's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Saturday. Everything went their way against Center as they made off with a 17-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.
Jeremiah Baumgardner and Judah Howe were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Baumgardner tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Howe tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Baumgardner went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Howe got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Chayse Bouet was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Monte Vista: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Mellott, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Monte Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Trinidad was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Sanford, falling 15-9. On the bright side, the nine- run effort marked the Miners' highest-scoring contest to date.
Trinidad saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brett Kendall, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.
Trinidad's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Monte Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Monte Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Trinidad when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 10-5. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Miners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
