The Glendale Vikings will challenge the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Glendale has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Glendale came up short against West Branch on Tuesday, falling 18-1. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Glendale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Gilbey, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Gilbey has hit this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bellwood-Antis). They never let Bishop Guilfoyle get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Parker Martin, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2025. Avery Conlon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bellwood-Antis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Bellwood-Antis' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Glendale, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Glendale's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bellwood-Antis, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Glendale continue to outrun the ball?
Glendale couldn't quite get it done against Bellwood-Antis when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
