The South Bend Clay Colonials's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to South Bend Adams 36-32. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Bend Clay in their matchups with South Bend Adams: they've now lost nine in a row.
Maliya Freeman and Delilah Castaneda certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Freeman scored six points along with ten blocks and nine rebounds, while Castaneda scored 13 points along with three steals. Those ten blocks set a new season-high mark for her.
South Bend Clay's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for South Bend Adams, they pushed their record up to 6-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend Clay will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jimtown at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for South Bend Adams, they will head out on the road to face off against NorthWood at 7:45 p.m. on December 22nd.
