Midtown is 0-4 against St. Pius X Catholic since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Midtown Knights will be staying on the road to face off against the St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Midtown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Midtown strolled past Riverwood with points to spare, taking the game 53-34. Given Midtown's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Riverwood is ranked 81st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Midtown found their leader in underclassman Devin Bockman, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals. The contest was Bockman's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Briaiah Lewis, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to St. Pius X Catholic, who are still winless after their fourth match. They fell 45-35 to Northview last Tuesday.
Their wins bumped Midtown to 5-0 and Riverwood to 3-1.
Midtown took a serious blow against St. Pius X Catholic when the teams last played back in January of 2016, falling 76-29. Can Midtown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
