Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lovelady walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Alto Yellowjackets on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lovelady got a massive performance out of Cason Watson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Watson a new career-high. Lane Wilson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win was the sixth in a row for Lovelady, bringing their record up to 18-10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Alto, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lovelady beat Alto by a score of 7-0 later that day.
