The Bluffton Bobcats came tearing into Friday's matchup with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Colleton County 73-25 at home. Bluffton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Tacoya Heyward, who scored 26 points along with eight assists and eight steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bluffton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amirah Brown, who scored 22 points along with two steals.
Colleton County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zariona Hudson, who scored nine points. That was a full 36% of Colleton County's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Bluffton pushed their record up to 20-1 with that victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Colleton County, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing James Island the next time they take the court. Colleton County will host James Island at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Bluffton will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
