The Modesto Panthers were the 68-56 winner over the Davis Spartans when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Modesto suffered a rough 65-43 loss at the hands of Davis on Friday.
Modesto's loss came despite strong showings from Andrew Poulsen and Phillip Gonder. Poulsen scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds, while Gonder scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds. Gonder scored a full 25.6% of Modesto's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chantha Ting, who scored 0 points.
Modesto now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Davis, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Modesto and Livingston will face off without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Davis will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Orestimba at 4:30 p.m. on December 2nd. Averaging 65.7 so far this season, Orestimba's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Davis better be ready for a challenge.
