The Hubbard Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Marlin 81-9. Hubbard has not had much luck with Marlin recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
It was another big night for Kya Mitchell, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 37 points and 2 assists for Marlin. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aaria Johnson, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five steals.
Hubbard has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Marlin, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 20-3.
Hubbard will head out on the road to square off against Axtell at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Axtell comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Marlin, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wortham at 6:15 p.m. Wortham is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
