Porter Ridge is a perfect 5-0 against Central Academy since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Porter Ridge Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Central Academy Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with five losses in a row dating back to last season, Porter Ridge turned things around against South Stanly on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Rowdy Rebel Bulls 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since April 23, 2024.
Porter Ridge got a big performance out of Mylen Cadiang, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Cadiang also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma Daniels, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Porter Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Central Academy put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Anson. Central Academy put the hurt on Anson with a sharp 17-0 win. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 8.8 runs per game.
Addison Crawford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kieryn Peters, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Marissa Easterly was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.
Porter Ridge's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Central Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
