Taft is 4-0 against Withrow since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Taft Senators will be staying on the road to face off against the Withrow Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Taft has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,091 points over their last 14 contests.
Even though Hughes scored an imposing 68 points on Friday, Taft still came out on top. Taft walked away with a 79-68 win over Hughes. Given Taft's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Hughes is ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Withrow's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 72-52 loss at the hands of Meadowdale.
Michael Johnson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabian Coker, who scored ten points.
Taft is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Withrow, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Taft skirted past Withrow 65-62 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Taft since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
