Softball Recap: Pima's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

The Pima Roughriders were able to grind out a solid win over the Leading Edge Academy - GEC Spartans on Thursday, taking the game 17-13.

The team relied heavily on Birdie Smart, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rhilee John, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Pima always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .644. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pima's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Leading Edge Academy - GEC, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pima will challenge Gilbert Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Leading Edge Academy - GEC, they will face off against Maryvale Prep at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
