St. Xavier is a perfect 3-0 against Jeffersonville since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tigers will challenge the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Xavier comes in on 13 and Jeffersonville on eight.
St. Xavier is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Roncalli, who was ranked fifth in their home state at the time (St. Xavier was ranked first). The Tigers came out on top against the Royals by a score of 3-1 on Saturday.
St. Xavier's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Dalton Lutes, who had 20 digs and three assists, and Josh Walsh, who had 26 assists and nine digs. That's the most assists Walsh has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Jeffersonville was able to grind out a solid win over New Albany on Saturday, taking the game 2-0.
Jeffersonville never let New Albany on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-16.
St. Xavier better keep an eye on Francisco Martinez. He was instrumental in Jeffersonville's win, getting eight digs and two aces.
Jeffersonville pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for St. Xavier, their record now sits at 13-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's game: St. Xavier hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 5.6 blocks per game. It's a different story for Jeffersonville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 blocks. Given St. Xavier's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
St. Xavier took their win against Jeffersonville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
