The Hope Academy Trojan Tigers came tearing into Wednesday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Cocoa 86-64. The result was nothing new for Hope Academy, who have now won six matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Hope Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dwayne Foreman III led the charge by scoring 23 points along with eight assists. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Foreman III has scored at least 25% of Hope Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Boyer, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Cocoa's loss came despite strong showings from Damien Bryant and Corey Peterson . Bryant scored 17 points along with seven assists and three steals, while Peterson scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Peterson scored 15 or more points. Antonio Adderley was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Hope Academy pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.5 points per game. As for Cocoa, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hope Academy and Haines City will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Haines City is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Cocoa, they will head out on the road to face off against Viera at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Viera presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cocoa in Florida (Viera is ranked 189th, while Cocoa is ranked 493rd).
