A classic North v. South matchup is on the schedule. The Elkhorn South Storm will face off against the Millard North Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Elkhorn South comes in on three and Millard North on seven.
Elkhorn South is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Kearney. Elkhorn South's victory was all the more impressive since the Bearcats were averaging only 3.81 runs allowed on the season.
Cal Cooper tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Elkhorn South saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Jindra, who fired off five runs, two triples, and two doubles while going 4-for-4. Those five runs gave Jindra a new career-high. Cam Cooper was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Elkhorn South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearney only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Millard North faced Papillion-LaVista South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs skirted past the Titans 5-3.
Millard North also got a great performance from Noah Gartner as he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Elkhorn South's record now sits at 17-10. As for Millard North, their record is now 21-11.
Elkhorn South was able to grind out a solid win over Millard North in their previous meeting back in April, winning 13-8. Do the Storm have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
