The Sheridan Yellowjackets will take on the Genoa Central Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
Sheridan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arkansas' top teams: Benton, who was ranked fourth at the time (Sheridan was ranked 12th). The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-3 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Yellowjackets have suffered since April 15, 2024.

Skylar Sterritt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Sadie Sterritt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Genoa Central entered their contest against Smackover on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dragons fell just short of the Buckaroos by a score of 7-5.
Emily McGuire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Macey Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Rylee Fike, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Sheridan dropped their record down to 14-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Genoa Central, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sheridan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .426. However, it's not like Genoa Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sheridan came out on top in a nail-biter against Genoa Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
