Even though the Peak to Peak Pumas scored an imposing 68 points on Thursday, the Colorado Academy Mustangs still came out on top. Colorado Academy walked away with a 75-68 victory over Peak to Peak. Given Colorado Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Peak to Peak is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colorado Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Bratis, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bratis has scored all season. George Buyers was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Several Pumas players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tysen Burton, who scored 21 points along with three steals. Burton has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Grant Boonstra, who scored 21 points.
Colorado Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Peak to Peak, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Colorado Academy will head out on the road to take on Jefferson Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Jefferson Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Peak to Peak, they will be playing at home against Eagle Ridge Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Eagle Ridge Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Saturday.
