After flying high against Everglades City last Thursday, the Marco Island Academy Rays came back down to earth. Marco Island Academy fell 33-26 to the Shamrocks on Thursday. Marco Island Academy has not had much luck with the Shamrocks recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Scholastica Niewald was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds for Donahue Catholic. The team also got some help courtesy of Camille Kelly, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Marco Island Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Donahue Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Marco Island Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Donahue Catholic will head out on the road to face off against the Stingrays at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Seacrest Country Day will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
