The Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They secured a 42-37 W over West Ashley. Given Ashley Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while West Ashley is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ashley Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nadia President led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Dianna Blake was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
West Ashley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destiny Ladson, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ladson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabbie Chinnis, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Ashley Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for West Ashley, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-11.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Stall the next time they take the court. Ashley Ridge will head out to face Stall at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while West Ashley will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
