The Fort Wayne South Side Archers lost against the Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Fort Wayne South Side was outmatched by Fort Wayne Northrop on the road and fell 57-23. While losing is never fun, Fort Wayne South Side can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Fort Wayne Northrop is ranked 34th).
Fort Wayne Northrop was led to victory by Destini Craig and Khala Williams-Thomas. Craig scored 13 points along with seven steals, while Williams-Thomas scored 28 points along with three steals. Those 28 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Swynn Jackson, who scored no points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Fort Wayne South Side bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Fort Wayne South Side will head out on the road to face off against Pike at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Wayne Northrop will be home for the holidays to greet Bedford North Lawrence at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Bedford North Lawrence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
